TRP Spares - Spyre DIsc Brake Caliper
- Finally a mechanical disc brake that offers superior performance and is a snap to set up.
The TRP Spyre brake is a dual sided mechanical brake where both pads actuate providing even and precise clamping force. This translates into even pad wear and, with the addition of a simple cable barrel adjuster, the pads can be adjusted easily and hassle free. No frustration at completely adjusting the whole caliper, only to have it continue to drag the fixed side, adding wear! All of this in an incredibly thin 40mm wide, 154g slender package that works with any of the drop bar levers on the market.Video

Bike Radar: As is, we remain intrigued with the new brake and are still happy TRP has invested the resources for a new cable actuated disc option.CX Magazine: ..the Spyre is just as powerful as the Avid BB7 when pulled by Shimano, if not a bit more so.Bike Rumor: The Spyre offered good power, with decent modulation. My bike set up with the Spyres had zero issues with fade, and even after really hard braking, were quiet and drag free.the feel is good, better than single-sided mechanical brakes and with better rotor clearance.Whats most impressive is they were able to solve the key issue with standard mechanical disc brakes and come in considerably lighter than what else is out there. And theyre comparatively cheap.Road CC: Verdict Lighter, better modulation, better clearance, easier adjustment for at least the same braking performance. And they look so much better than BB7s, wouldn't you agree?
